Make sure baby’s nails are filed down and will look nice in images. Avoid tight fitting clothes and fasten the diaper loosely the day of the session to avoid any imprints on baby’s skin. If baby has any bandages, please remove them as soon as possible to avoid imprints as well.

Do not change baby’s diet the day before the session. Feed as you normally do. Try to keep the baby awake 1-2 hours before the session to allow baby to be nice and sleepy during the session. Do not feed for about 1-2 hours before the session.

Right before the session begins, be prepared to feed your baby. We want the baby to be full and happy to ensure a nice sleepy baby. Be sure to burp the baby really well after the feeding. A gassy baby is not a content baby.

It is very important that you remain patient during the session. If baby is fussy or does not sleep, do not stress. Babies can sense others moods around them. We want to keep the environment as calm and soothing as possible. I will be bringing along a sound machine but if your baby has something specific that soothes him/her, I would love to use that during the session as well. If baby gets too fussy for pictures, we will take a break to try to soothe baby but if that doesn’t work, we may reschedule at the photographer’s discretion.

Please keep the room we are working in nice and warm. Babies are more comfortable in a very warm space and will be more likely to sleep.

Be prepared for messes of all kinds. Babies are very unpredictable especially when it comes to bodily functions. They will poop, pee, or spit up whenever and wherever they need to. For this reason, I will be dressed comfortably in clothes I do not mind getting messes on. I also suggest that both parents have back up outfits prepared to wear in pictures.

This is a lifestyle mini session that includes mom, dad and any siblings (pets included). I have this session slotted for 40 minutes. It might go quicker than that or take a little bit longer. Pictures of the entire family are first. Then we will do sibling images next. Lastly, we will do images of baby with just mom and images of baby with just dad. If there is time left in the session, I might attempt a posed shot or two. Be prepared that baby might need a snack mid-session. This is totally ok and a little expected! Babies eat often and use that as a soothing mechanism.

Most importantly, enjoy it! Your baby is only this tiny once. I know with all the sleep deprivation and adjusting to life with a new baby it has probably been hard to just sit back and take it all in, but that is exactly what I want you to do during your session!

I will bring along a small bag of props to use if we have time at the end of your session to attempt posed shots. You can expect only one or two set ups if given time. If you have any special items or blankets/wraps that you would like to use during the lifestyle portion of your session, I would be more than happy to do that.

I will also be bringing along my lighting stand and lighting equipment in case we are unable to get enough natural lighting from the windows.

Once the session is over, I will pack up all my items and head out. I will begin editing your gorgeous images sometime in the following week or two after your session. Once I have a handful of images edited, I will post a small sneak peek for you on my Facebook and Instagram pages. Please allow up to 6 weeks for your full gallery to be delivered. Once the gallery is delivered, you may order any prints, albums, canvas prints, or any other products we may have discussed.

I am looking forward to our session together and to meet your bundle of joy!

During times of unease around health concerns, I will not attempt to get posed shots of baby as this will minimize contact between myself and the baby. Instructions for posing will be done at a distance and any close interactions will be minimal. This is for the safety of you and your baby.
